Speedy?[edit]

I don't see how this qualifies as total nonsense under Wikipedia:Patent_nonsense. It may be minimal but it explains what Plumber's Mait is. PGibbons (talk) 17:06, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speed deletion explanation[edit]

This article is too abstract to be an encyclopedic article. it may have been given a wrong speed deletion tag for convenient. The initial author is free to contest. Providing sufficient content and references may be the best way to contest. thank you. Freshymail-user_talk:fngosa--the-knowledge-defender 17:20, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The products' title is also wrong. best to delete it or move the page together with the speed deletion tag. 17:23, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Speedy declined. This is clearly NOT a candidate for speedy deletion. It is not "too abstract". It is not "gibberish", and the title is not "wrong". Grutness...wha? 00:20, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Plumber's MaitPlumber's putty — Plumber's Mait is a brand name. The generic name of the topic is "plumber's putty". We should not be promoting one company's brand or formulation. Jojalozzo 17:24, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

From what I can tell Evo-Stick's Plumber's Mait is an epoxy leak repair product, not plumber's putty. I think some plumbers may use it like putty but it's not what this article says plumber's putty is (oil mixed with mineral powder). I don't think that specific product needs mention here. which applications?[edit]

Plumber's putty is obviously different than glue, caulk, gasket sealer, etc. Yet the article does not make the distinction. Plumber's putty cannot bond like glue. Does not harden like latex caulk, does not stick like silicon caulk. I want to discover its applications by thinking though given its characteristics shared in the wikipedia article. So maybe we can list its characteristics and from that we can arrive at its applications. For example, I don't know whether I can use plumbers putty to seal between the counter and the sink. Why can't I use plumber's putty? There isn't any information for me to formulate an answer. Rtdrury (talk) 01:21, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
