Not sure about pioneer photographers. Does anyone have the NGS book ? Pradiptaray 00:20, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I get 13 Google hits for this term. Outside of an NG reference, who actually uses this term? --Calton | Talk 00:28, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I will get back to you after looking at the book literature I cited. Even if only NG parlance, it seems notable enough to have a chapter dedicated to it in the Centenary Compilation of the Society. This parlance is in use among photographers, I have a few friends who independently use it (though that is definitely not a notability criterion). But I feel that a mere lack of Google hits is not sufficient to brand it not noteworthy. Pradiptaray 00:47, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Some of the hits are on blogs, and Flickr annotations from independent photographers, so the term has some circulation. Pradiptaray 01:04, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The term also has possibly negative connotations. Pradiptaray 01:00, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not reliable sources and not reliable sources, respectively. Again, where do scholars, media sources, books of professional photography or other actual reliable sources use this? This is more and more looking like either original research or a regurgitation of NG's usage. --Calton | Talk 09:10, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It is NG usage, thats the point. But I have cited at least 2 works published outside the NG community which use the term. There are at least 4 or 5 independent (non Geographic) sources which might be cited, quite a few are about the cultural impact / photographic trend impact of Geographic . And as I said, the technique is notable enough to warrant a chapter in the centenary publication of the society - the book here. A 20 page article on the matter at hand. I will remove the non-notability tag if there are no further objections on Jan 1. ray 07:26, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Am doing so ray 15:30, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
