The royal standard is not a part of the regalia, rather an single object called Rijksvaandel or Rijksbanier is meant. Literally translated it means "Standard of State" or "Banner of State", but since it is not a standard or banner in British heraldic terms, and looks rather like a gonfalon, so I propose to call it that. No other similar looking standards are in use by Dutch authorities or royalty, IMHO it was unique Napoleonic novelty.--77.248.80.112 (talk) 21:46, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • I do not agree... The Royal Standard is part of the regalia, it is only used at the enthronement and it has been given by Queen Juliana to the "Foundation Regalia of the House Orange Nassau". The word "gonfalon" is a typically Italian term, would "Banner of State" be to your liking? Robert Prummel (talk) 20:54, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
