No longer work?

[edit]

Some how this does not appear to be right. Many people in the communities listed as examples of a retirement community actually do work. Also, in the the US, it may not be legal to restrict access based on being retired. Vegaswikian 05:33, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

An operative of ACTS Retirement-Life Communities has apparently plugged into the article all the company's properties in several states. I don't see any point in listing a community that does not have a link to its own Wikipedia article and am reverting the additions. More-seasoned Wikipedians than I can probably offer better reasons these entries should not have been added. --CliffC 01:40, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Active adult communities

[edit]

This buzzword has been used for a while in the real estate industry to refer to "retirement communities" or "age restricted communities". I created a redirect page to here from "Active adult community" to take this fact into account. — Rickyrab | Talk 15:43, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

For the reasons noted above, am again cleaning out all red-linked (meaning there is no Wikipedia article on the community) entries. --CliffC 21:06, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Balance of View

[edit]

Some further mention should be included by anyone who has time to research it to include issues in such communities such as them voting themselves out of active school districts to avoid paying a school tax, etc. 204.17.31.126 (talk) 22:23, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Continuing Care Retirement Communities

[edit]

The paragraph headed "Continuing Care Retirement Communities" is a stopgap for more detailed and better formated information that is being prepared for inclusion in Wikepedia, possibly in separate article. The absence of change to contextual material does not imply endorsement of its content. Michael P. Barnett (talk) 02:52, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I added information and cleaned up this section, adding some links to other Wikipedia pages. Kjacks11 (talk) 05:22, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Additional information on LGBT retirement communities

[edit]

I added information on retirement communities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender adults. Let me know if you have any comments or suggestions. Kjacks11 (talk) 18:31, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Additions and Corrections in March 2012

[edit]

A small group of students in the Gerontology certificate program at the University of Georgia edited this page. Revisions were made to the introduction, NORC section, and CCRC section. New sections were added for Co-Housing and LGBT retirement communities. List of properties in each state was deleted. Minor grammar and wording corrections were made. Retirement Village UK Section

[edit]

The section on retirement communities seems to have been edited to include links and information on Retirement Villages Ltd. This content seems to have been placed by a marketing agency and doesn't seem entirely relevant to the subject of retirement communities in the UK in general. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ukphilosopher (talkcontribs) 13:46, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

After seriously studying this article, I really didn't feel like it did a good job representing the visual aspect of retirement communities. The one representation that I did see was small and not insightful.205.185.110.180 (talk) 00:25, 3 May 2022 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.185.110.180 (talk) 00:21, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
