Prosperity and POV

Neale Donald Walsch isn't a prosperity teacher.

This love letter needs a major rewrite for POV and some ... facts. RickK 05:34, Jun 20, 2005 (UTC)

I tried to improve it (only a bit), and I (tentatively) removed the tags it's not like a love letter anymore ;) -- ClementSeveillac 00:43, 8 September 2005 (UTC)And then I bought a donkey and rode off over the sunset with Reverend Ike waving at all his fans as we trotted down Broadway.

notability tag

Notability tag removed. The Reverend doesn't enjoy the same national reputation as in the mid-1970s when he was the subject of profiles on 60 Minutes and in the NYT (July 28 1972), but a Google search will tell you his name is still sort of a catchphrase. His theater / church in Harlem alone would make him worth an article. --Lockley (talk) 15:59, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

2005 sexual misconduct lawsuit

information on lawsuit filed:

http://www.emediawire.com/releases/2005/7/emw259168.htm [not signed]

This is a 2005 sexual misconduct lawsuit:
"Miami, Florida June 30, 2005 – Augusto Medina is suing Frederick "the Rev. Ike" Eikerenkoetter of sexual abuse. The lawsuit is filed in Miami-Dade County Circuit Court, Case No. 05-06656 CA 22, and alleges that Rev. Ike forced Medina to fondle him on several occasions and to perform oral sex on him. The allegations of the suit are similar to those in a 1995 sexual harassment suit against the Rev. Ike that was filed by his former personal assistant in New York." Et cetera. 64.142.90.33 (talk) 07:40, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Same Augusto Medina lawsuit, different article, the year is 2005:
"In an answer to Medina's complaint, the Rev. Ike and the association contend that that the alleged sexual contact never occurred."

1999 Fraud investigattion

circa 1999 Boston newspaper: In the last few weeks, Suffolk District Attorney Ralph C. Martin II has launched a fraud investigation into Ike's operations in Boston, though some members of the office are squeamish over the accompanying issues of race and freedom of religion. For years, Ike has withstood investigations from the IRS and US Postal Service, often telling critics, Let someone give a dime to the preacher and he's robbing the poor. Another consideration, though, is that he has insidiously marbled himself into the sophisticated Boston-area economy, parceling out enormous printing and mailing contracts to companies across the region. The manager of one Wilmington print shop said he has four 100,000-piece mailings in the next six weeks, adding, He feeds a lot of people. In Brockton, severely disabled people are hired to stuff envelopes with the charms.

Harassment Suit 'Hundred-Million-Dollar Lie,' Says Rev. Ike
By Ellis Henican
Newsday
NEW YORK - Three weeks after being publicly accused of sexual misconduct by his former personal assistant, nationally known TV evangelist Rev. Ike has lashed back at his young male accuser.

"There are no witnesses or evidence because nothing of the kind ever happened," the minister said. "It's a hundred-million-dollar lie."

A lawsuit has been filed in Nassau County (N.Y.) Supreme Court by Andrew Brown, a British immigrant who worked as the minister's $500-a-week personal assistant. Brown, 25, says the 60-year-old clergyman hit him with a barrage of sexual advances - and then fired him when he deflected the minister's persistent overtures.

No record of how the case was adjudicated found by me. 64.142.90.33 (talk) 08:06, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Blessed holy red string

My family still remembers the letter we got in the 80's. It was a request for money that included a piece of thread he called a "blessed holy red string". He promised that if the thread was returned with a donation, he would personally take it up to his "prayer tower" and pray for whatever we paid him to.

I wonder how many people fell for that one? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.58.251.147 (talk) 18:25, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Relation to Bernard Jordan

I think it would be helpful to specify the relation between Ike and Bernard Jordan (I would if I knew). Bernard was mentored by Ike and Bernard's progeny/protege, Manasseh, is growing in popularity while being touted by Benny Hinn. Will3935 (talk) 05:11, 16 September 2012 (UTC)

Massive rewrite, but all unsourced

User tzitte (talk · contribs) rewrote the article, the edit summary says the article was biased and the rewrite is more encyclopedic in tone.

I agree that part of the article is now better written, being the summary of Ike's life and history. It is also true that the description of Ike's theology was a quote from an article not sympathetic to that theology. However beyond that part, the rewrite is all interpretation. And anything unpleasant has been drowned in weasel words. Exactly none of it is supported by reliable sources. Or sources at all. M.boli (talk) 13:03, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

To editor Tzitte: The foremost problem with your rewrite of this article is that it does not meet the standards of Wikipedia:verifiability. Often such rewrites are simply reverted. I haven't done so because a) you seem to be new, and b) you are putting a lot of work into trying to improve the article. But your contributions need to meet wikipedia standards and norms. M.boli (talk) 12:43, 28 January 2019 (UTC)

Two months later, and one month after last attempt to engage tzitte (talk · contribs), I've reverted to before all the unsourced original research. That user has neither responded or addressed the problem. M.boli (talk) 04:35, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
