The Wikipedia article as it stands is almost sentence by sentence like the second, uncredited article on Murderpedia at http://www.murderpedia.org/male.B/b/biegenwald.htm. (The first article is a copy of the article from Wikipedia itself.) This second article borrows liberally (although without any credit) from Michael Newton's book Hunting Humans: An Encyclopedia of Modern Serial Killers.
I have attempted to give credit for such of the facts as I can find in the few reliable sources that are readily accessible using a search engine. But there is a lot of color in the story that someone got somewhere, and I have not located a reliable source.
There are several unreliable sources that tell the tale (unreliable because they give no indication of how the author got the information) but they could prove useful in a further search for good authority: (1) Hudson County Facts, http://hudsoncountyfacts.getnj.com/more14.html; (2) Doris Lane, “The Girls in the Garden.” http://dorislane.com/?p=64; (3) “Richard Biegenwald Mass Murderer.” http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~batsto/Misc/Crime/Biegenwald/Biegenwald_Murders.html. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.109.90.197 (talk) 05:38, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
Joe Metheny
[edit]Why is the picture Joe Metheny's mugshot? Its the same image just zoomed in. OmniFrieza994 (talk) 21:01, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
- That is not Joe Metheny. That is a prison photograph of Biegenwald that is often misattributed as Metheny's. Comitialbulb561 (talk) 13:57, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
