Port of Gaza

[edit]

A lengthy subsection has been added, whose sources do not mention Rimal at all, but rather the Port of Gaza. Much of that section consists of original research which takes sourced material about Israeli naval actions, ties those actions to the 'Port of Gaza' (which was presumably the destination of some of the ships targeted), and then makes another leap of faith to tie that to 'Rimal" - the subject of the article - all done with POV language. I have trimmed that lengthy section down to the minimum that can be credibly related to Rimal. Canadian Monkey (talk) 20:26, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I agree. None of the sources use "Rimal" or "Remal". The port could be in Sheikh Ijlin or a site not even part of the Gaza municipality. If we could find such a source, the material could be reinstated. Also, the source for what's been left of the section does not cite the district. There's a good chance it is in Rimal, due to its extensive reach, but we need a source to confirm it or it'll be deemed OR. --Al Ameer son (talk) 04:52, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The port of Gaza is in Rimal....Your arguments are akin to saying that nelsons column is not in London because it's in Trafalgar square...Ashley kennedy3 (talk) 09:36, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As I have now shown with RS (which I had not thought were needed as it was already a very well known fact) that Rimal, Maioumas and the Port of Gaza are all the same place the comments about credibly related to Rimal to be misplaced...One of the facts about Rimal is the plethora of ancient artefacts, Byzantine mosaics and Roman columns laying around in gardens..Ashley kennedy3 (talk) 15:08, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tense

[edit]

There have been multiple tense reversions over the last few days because of the widespread destruction of the neighborhood by bombing. While some things are likely no longer true such as the prosperity of the neighborhood. The moniker "Rimal" is still being used to refer to a geographic area and according to WP:MOS the title should say "Rimal is" a neighborhood rather than "was" Other things such as the road that runs through the neighborhood are also still extant, especially as current news says that these highways are being used as evacuation routes.

Additionally, several edits have been made referring to Hamas as a terrorist organization. This is also against WP:CONTENTIOUS and should be avoided. See also the Hamas talk page Talk:Hamas#Hamas_is_designated_as_a_terrorist_organization
