"is [on] my authority" -> "is my authority"
[edit]"The man who placed the torpedo on the boat is [on] my authority, for I had the statement from his own lips."
'On my authority' is used for something like: 'He placed the torpedo under my instructions.'
'He is my authority', without the '[on]', is used for something like: 'He is the person who told me the tale'.
(Also, "[on]" is not in the original quote.) James A Hinnant (talk) 05:16, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
