The so called Duplication Detector report ({{csb-pageincludes|1=http://www.linfo.org/cross-platform.html}}) refers a web page the doesn't even exist (404 HTTP error). I did not copy any content from that non-existing page. Tobias.trelle (talk) 08:43, 13 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Robot Framework is a generic test automation framework for acceptance testing and acceptance test-driven development (ATDD). It has easy-to-use tabular test data syntax and utilizes the keyword-driven testing approach.

I'd rework the very first paragraph to reference keyword/data/behavior driven approaches as mentioned in http://robotframework.googlecode.com/hg/doc/userguide/RobotFrameworkUserGuide.html?r=2.6.3#different-test-case-styles section of Robot Framework documentation. Unfortunately I don't have enough knowledge to do this properly, but that approaches are worth mentioning in primary description of software. --myroslav (talk) 12:22, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Notability[edit]

I've tried to add some third party source to establishe notability.. Anyway there are at least three books that mention Robot Framework:

"Atdd by Example: A Practical Guide to Acceptance Test-driven Development" by Markus Gärtner
"Python Testing Cookbook" by Greg Lee Turnquist
"Agile Processes in Software Engineering and Extreme Programming - 11th International Conference, XP 2010, Trondheim, Norway, June 1-4, 2010, Proceedings" ISBN 978-3-642-13054-0

And then there is the one made by the evil bot scam: Kristen Nehemiah Horst <- this should not be included in the actual article Mikkorpela (talk) 13:43, 8 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've added some third party sources articles either published in a magazine or in a conference that are about Robot Framework also a third party presentation and a discussion with a third party expert about the framework. I also mention some books that have sections about Robot Framework on the talk page (if I understood it correctly notability is a property of the subject and not really a property of the article). I think these are enough to establish the amount of notability that Wikipedia requires. Mikkorpela (talk) 14:18, 8 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Notability states "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject" (emphasis mine). Crispin, Hendrickson and Emery use it as an example in a discussion of a different topic, but they don't discuss the subject or provide significant coverage. The Collino and Stresnjak & Hocenski articles are how-tos, and only have a brief discussion of what the subject is. The two YouTube videos are also how-tos or demos. While it shows that the product is used, it doesn't support any of the claims made in the article other than perhaps the examples section. First of all I want to say that I am not getting paid for making RF any more public than what it is. The whole original wikipedia article was created by a third party that is not part of the core development team.

Robot Framework has an active user community Link to robotframework-users forum and the package downloads page shows a fairly good indication that the tool is used internationally by many Google Code download page for the framework packages - both pages are hosted by Google and not any organization that is directly related with Robot Framework. If you go to github and Search for "Robot Framework" related projects you will get hundreds of projects that built on this test automation framework - core team only has at max 10 projects there - again github is an organization that is not directly related with Robot Framework. The web is full of blog articles about Robot Framework ( Blog 1, Blog 2, Blog in Thai (3), Blog in some Asian language 4 .. I could just go on ). And the darn bot book maker has even made a book about Robot Framework ( amazon link This is an odd creature this Kristen Nehemiah Horst..).
