Discussion
[edit]There is a discussion about two Rockforts at Talk:Rockfort (Jamaica).–CaroleHenson (talk) 02:20, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
Photo
[edit]As I mentioned in both Rockfort articles, both times that I removed the photos here and here:
- The photo is not relevant to content in the article
- It's not particularly appropriate for an article about an area (e.g., two women making bows for a celebration???)
Please do not revert this again unless you can state how this relates to information about the area of Rockfort. We don't even know enough about Rockfort yet... or even if that company is located in the area. As we have found with the Rockfort Mineral Baths, it is outside of Kingston, while the Rockfort area is inside Kingston.
And.... it doesn't appear to be appropriate for this article. I'm not even sure that it would be appropriate for an article about the company, unless the women or the event were particularly notable.
You're moving waaaayyyy tooo fast for where we are at information wise, as I mentioned on your talk page. –CaroleHenson (talk) 02:26, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- Sources to look at re: images are MOS:LEADIMAGE and Wikipedia:Image use policy. See pertinence.–CaroleHenson (talk) 02:47, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
Background info
[edit]As an FYI, since I put up the in use tag, I am still looking for background and historical info.–CaroleHenson (talk) 03:49, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
Dubious tag re: popular Jamaican music
[edit]Please read the source again. It doesn't say the same sentence verbatim, it's a summary of the information from the source. It absolutely is stated in the source, please read it again slowly (you move way too fast and miss catching facts). I am removing the tag.–CaroleHenson (talk) 17:13, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- I read it twice before and I read it again now. Can you please quote here the part you think supports "Jamaican popular music developed in Rockfort, including ska, reggae, and rock steady." Thanks. FloridaArmy (talk) 21:57, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- Perhaps it could be summarized better. Here's the info from the source: "… that the jazz musicians of Jamaica invented the popular music of Jamaica, where it started: the ska…. All these cycles — the ska cycle, the rocksteady cycle, the reggae cycle".–CaroleHenson (talk) 22:09, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, both. I think the problem here is ambiguity. Presumably you didn't mean that all Jamaican popular music developed only in Rockfort; you meant that Jamaican popular music was evolving in Rockfort at the same time as the rest of Jamaica. The sentence could be read both ways. I'll see if I can improve that.Deb (talk) 08:18, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
- Excellent, thanks, Deb.–CaroleHenson (talk) 14:10, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
