Ronkonkoma history

[edit]

The page needs info on its history (i.e. LIRR deciding to terminate in Ronk for no particular reason other than a faster sea route to Boston, which led to its establishment.) Rusty 04:10, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The LIRR Main Line actually terminates in Greenpoint (see Ronkonkoma Branch), but service east of Ronkonkoma is limited. Rail line electrification ends east of Ronkonkoma, and is relatively new (completed in 1988). For a page about the Ronkonkoma station, Ronkonkoma (LIRR station) still needs to be created. I don't know what other history can be included in this article; I'm not an expert in the area. Tinlinkin 05:00, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I know that one of the parking garages on the north side of the tracks used to be a freight spur to something, but I forget what it was. I'm working on a Ronkonkoma Station article, but if need be I know some other people who might be willing to collaborate. DanTD 01:57, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
