Notability

[edit]

Delete. This "municipality" is completely non-notable.

Who decides whether something is "non-notable"? I will agree with you that this article (and others like it) as it stands, is probably non-notable. I created it simply because there was no article on this geographical entity. This was meant to spur someone who has more immediate and local knowledge on the topic to continue the article to the point where it might become more notable. Very few articles here are created entirely by one person alone. Each one of us can contribute elements of an article in order to make it "notable". One of the purposes of having a red link, rather than no link at all, as I see it, is to encourage someone somewhere to contribute to that non-existent article. I see very short "stub" articles as an encouragement to people with the proper knowledge to expand upon them, not as topics for speedy deletion. Who knows? Perhaps in a few months time some of these articles could turn out to be among the best in Wikipedia. That no one has started an article on a particular topic does not necessarily mean that the topic is absolutely "non-notable". Backspace 20:40, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, since the above comments, we've had two Censuses taken, 2011 and 2016. Oak Bluff doubled in size between those years. Currently, if you click on "Oak Bluff" in the RM of Macdonald article, it reverts back to the RM article, meaning there is no stand alone content about the Town, with a 2016 population of 1,051. (https://www12.statcan.gc.ca/census-recensement/2016/dp-pd/prof/details/page.cfm?Lang=E&Geo1=POPC&Code1=1535&Geo2=PR&Code2=46&SearchText=oak%20bluff&SearchType=Begins&SearchPR=01&B1=All&TABID=1&type=0). I believe its time to create more content about this particular place, as it has been growing for some time. Jimj wpg (talk) 07:07, 22 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oak Bluff Secondary Plan

[edit]

In June 2019 the RM of Macdonald released a Secondary Plan for Oak Bluff, Manitoba. Page 16 of the PDF says that the community grew 80% between 2011 and 2016, with a current population of 1,051. Jimj wpg (talk) 14:50, 22 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
