It is said, though probably an exaggeration, that no convoy that was escorted by a blimp (or dirigible) was never attacked by a U-Boat. [citation needed]

I removed the above because the original article had the reverse meaning, and it's uncited.-84user (talk) 23:34, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Sea Scout" or "Submarine Scout"

[edit]

Here are some references for "SS" standing for "Submarine Scout" rather than "Sea Scout": Ian Castle, British Airships: 1905-30 (p.16), Global Security: Great War RNAS Airships - S.S. (Submarine Scout), Submarine Scout Class, United States Naval Aviation, 1919-1941: Aircraft, Airships and Ships Between the Wars, by E. R. the Scribd link is probably copyright infringing. GraemeLeggett (talk) 20:46, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Move discussion in progress

[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:L class blimp which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 04:16, 20 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Update: Subsequent discussion of UK usage at Talk:SS_class_airship#Suggested_move.2C_but_what_to.3F implies a move to "SSZ class airship". — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 15:40, 29 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
