Take a minute to read the comments at Talk:Sailing#Re-write effort -- non how-to et seq. Some of us are working on re-organizing the sailing-related articles. See if you agree with our approach and give us some help. Mrees1997 20:44, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
The introduction to this page reads like a glossy brochure for a sail school, rather than NPOV summary of what sail school is about. Perhaps someone with more time on their hands could give this a rewrite. Nlaporte 18:33, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Leading organisation in Scotland?
[edit]NPOV? - Reads v much like an advert for the trust. What about Ocean Youth Trust who've been around since the 60's and sailed in Scotland on Taikoo, Alba Venturer as well as other chartered ones. Elwell 14:42, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Rewrite needed
[edit]Following on the lines of Elwell, this article does not read like an encyclopedia article, but as an extended personal analysis of some sort: an advertisement, an essay, or a magazine article. There's much inappropriate, and a good part of that seems to be original research. This type of sentence is an example: "Many people today are more familiar with the loops and turns of a roller coaster than the rhythmic motion of the sea." (I've removed a several other such sentences, already, but the article still very largely needs rewrite, with inline citations.)
I can't speak to Elwell's comment about being specifically an advertisement for the Scottish trust, however I did not find the information in the article related to a PBS special where teens and 20s went across the Atlantic by sail as part of their maritime qualification. (Benelux countries?)
Also, in rewrite, common words should not be wikilinked, especially those not central to the article topic, such as "loops", "World War I" and "risk". See WP:CONTEXT for more on this.
