Name
[edit]So named ... because the cove was used by all sledging parties leaving the nearby Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) station for the north. What it mean? Some song? Novell? Fairy-tale? Can anyone explain for non-native-english speakers? Thanks! --Kikos 18:29, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
- According to the British description (at http://data.aad.gov.au/aadc/gaz/scar/), "the cove was so named because it was used by all FIDS sledge parties "sallying" N from the station". According to my dictionary, sally is a jocular term for "go out". - 4ing (talk) 20:37, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thanx! Got it! ;) --Kikos 12:13, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
