I've uploaded an old photo of mine - commons:Image:Mission San Jose doorway detail.jpg - that I know is a doorway in one of these missions; I'm pretty sure it's San José, but I didn't label it when I took it 13-1/2 years ago. If someone who knows the area can confirm, that would good.

Also, I'll start an appropriate Commons category; if someone who lives in the area feels like a photo expedition, we could sure use a lot more photos of the missions. - Jmabel | Talk 08:49, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Thanks for your interest in the article. As you can see, for such an important part of San Antonio & Texas history the article is really lacking in content and media. Your photo is of San Jose, but not of a door. It's actually of the ornate rose window on the side of the mission. Although I have a ton of photos from 2003, the family is planning a July 4th bike trip to all the missions so I'll take some current ones then. --Brownings 11:14, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reads like tourist material

[edit]

An encyclopedia shouldn't have a heading like "Experiencing the Missions". That's language you see in tourist pamphlets.

Possible layout revisions

[edit]

When reading this article, there are several things that stand out to me as problematic. First, the first section ("Mission Reach...") seems like a better fit for the history section; it certainly does not warrant a top-level heading. Second, the history section focuses mainly on the Alamo, which is not a part of the park and therefore seems irrelevant. Third, the missions would probably be best grouped under a single heading, with each mission getting its own subheading. Thoughts? -RunningTiger123 (talk) 03:51, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
