Saurian does not equal dinosaur

I disagree that Saurian should redirect to dinosaur. Saurian is the archaic term for a (usually large and extinct) reptile. It might refer to a dinosaur. It might refer to a plesiosaur, icthyosaur, pterosaur, archosauromorph, crocodilian, mosasaur or pelycosaur. It might even refer to a living reptile such as a monitor.To equate saurian unequivocally with dinosaur is scientifically, historically and etymologically incorrect. And a reference to a character in a video game is, I suggest, of little interest. I would suggest that the article saurian should contain a short description, with a reference to dinosaur, as well as other fossil reptiles.--Gazzster 09:06, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Placing a REDIRECT to Dinosaur does not preclude the change of this REDIRECT into its own article. In fact, I think in the AFD discussion, you had suggested you could write a paleontology history article that would be suitable, and I think that's great. The reason I placed the REDIRECT was that I was afraid that leaving it uncreated would result in a gamer creating yet another article on an obscure use of "Saurian" in a video game, so this is really to pre-empt it. Hi again Whpq! I've just done a little research, and in fact the term saurian has a very precise meaning. It refers to any reptile of the Sauria or Diapsida. There is already an article on sauria. So saurian should redirect to sauria?--Gazzster 22:41, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed re-redirect

I propose that "Saurian" redirect to Star Fox Adventures, since that's the lanugage spoken in Adventures. Are more people going to be typing "Saurian" looking for the reptile clade/genus or will most people who type "Saurian" be looking for something related to the fictional language?
