Suggested move[edit]

A move of the article to another sister project is suggested, such as Wikibooks or Wikiversity, unless encyclopedic layout may be achieved here. --Gryllida (talk) 06:02, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Compliment[edit]

@TheRealDealOutlet: What a great start! It's just the article I need to be written. I'll be using this in my blog post. Also thanks @Gryllida: for adjusting it. Hope to see this article improve!   Nfalceso | Reply Here   06:49, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dupe? Scope?[edit]

@Gryllida, TheRealOutlet, and Nfalceso:, Thanks for this article and the edits. I can't help to think, though, that this is a duplicate of Children's Internet Protection Act. If the section "Background" in that article is worked on a little bit, they are effectively the same. Also, the title is a bit too broad as it just describes the situation in the US. Wikipedia is a global encyclopaedia. I can see merit for such article if it attempts to give an international overview. As the article is today, I'd convert this title to a redirect to "Children's Internet Protection Act]]. pseudonym Jake Brockman talk 06:40, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jake Drockman:, Hm. After reading into the Children's Internet Protection Act, I can agree that there are some similarities. We can either rewrite it in a different direction or redirect and merge the content provided. As for the broad title, I do vouch for different one, since the words "Censorship of the Internet" is a bit too strong; with a possible link into thinking of Great_Firewall, at first glance.   Nfalceso | Reply Here   06:55, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It's not just the great firewall, though. Similar to many schools, companies restrict the internet to prevent data loss or staff using the corporate net for other activities (similar motivation to schools), some countries have implemented or are proposing age filters at provider level (e.g. UK), or Thailand that filters certain "inappropriate sites" - usually along common decency and what may be lese majeste. We already have Internet censorship that gives a much broader overview. I'm really not sure what value this article adds other than putting existing contents into a different context with much duplication. pseudonym Jake Brockman talk 07:10, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well GFW was the first came to mind, I do know all the other Censorships you stated, never processed out into typing. I'll keep a neutral stance, for now, either direction it will go I'll vouch for it.   Nfalceso | Reply Here   07:21, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You typoed the nickname of the article author. --Gryllida (talk) 20:39, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
