Section on travel expenses

[edit]

Removed the following from the article:

"Unfortunately, despite the long distance from any major urban center, the school board is required to fulfill many training requirement for the staff. Often, training opportunities are outside the district, but the district cannot come up with sufficient funds to reimburse staff for travel expenses. The concern was raised in the April 16, 2019 meeting in the district school board. [1]"

The board minutes in question reference training and travel costs specifically for board members, not for teachers or other staff. Teachers in the district receive $1400 annually for professional development, larger than most districts in the province. The amount can be rolled over so that teachers have $2800 for travel costs to attend professional development out of town. In addition, the district often sends staff out for directed in-service when training is required for their position, the costs of which are covered by the district. In general, both teaching and support staff are very well funded for professional development when compared to their provincial counterparts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.126.123.52 (talk) 13:50, 6 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
