Hyphenation of a compound modifier[edit]

@Spacini: A hyphen is required in "wood-frame building" to show that "wood" modifies "frame", not "building", and the compound adjective "wood-frame" modifies "building". You can look at a wood-frame building and not see any wood, maybe just stucco, because the wood frame is inside. A building made entirely or primarily of wood that has a frame would be a "wood frame building". I doubt that is what is meant here, and if it is, it would be better to reword it. Please don't change articles just to suit your own personal taste; Wikipedia is meant for readers, not for individual editors. Also consider whether WP:OWN is at work here. Wood frame building--one that is primarily made of wood with wood clapboard--is exactly what is meant when the buildings have been described as such. I have worked from existing photographs, postcards, and other sources, such as NRHP documents (referenced on the article's page) to accurately describe the building's construction as best as possible. I am seriously taken aback that you would imply that I employ WP:OWN. Spacini (talk) 22:03, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
