Problems

[edit]

Just judging from the Japanese Wikipedia article (ja:星刻の竜騎士), this article has several problems. First, while the kanji title is 星刻の竜騎士, the pronunciation is せいこくのドラグナー, which means the title of the English article should be Seikoku no Doragunā. Second, according to the Japanese Wikipedia, the light novel came first, so it should be given priority in the English article. Michitaro (talk) 21:12, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see anything on the publisher's website supporting せいこく as the furigana form of 星刻. Google Translator gives a transliteration of Hoshi Koku, so a live translator will need to be called in. However, the biggest problem I see is there is no evidence of notability. If not evidence of notability is provided, then it would find itself at AfD. —Farix (t | c) 22:55, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The URL of the official site indicates it is pronounced "seikoku". This is how it would be pronounced since it is a single word, and Google Translate would be useless for finding that out given it's a made-up word. It's the same "sei" as in Urusei Yatsura and Saint Seiya, and the "koku" part is the same as in Maison Ikkoku. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 01:15, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It should be "Dragonar".—Ryulong (琉竜) 01:05, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the word after the の should be written "Dragonar". 星刻 is written "Seikoku". ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 04:10, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

While the naming issue has been settled, there is still the issue of notability. How does this series pass WP:BK? And if it doesn't pass the notability standards, is it better to delete the article or redirect it to MF Bunko J? —Farix (t | c) 22:45, 11 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, as far as I can tell, the series has not won any awards. With nine novel volumes and 2 manga volumes, I'm sure they have been reviewed somewhere a few times, but I'm not sure where to even look to find out if there are any reviews in reliable sources. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 05:50, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dragonar vs. Dragner

[edit]

I checked some of the raws for the light novels and noticed that the author uses "Dragner" as the correct English romanization (i.e "The Avalon Knight Dragner" from Vols. 6-present). Plus it is there in the katakana and romaji (Doragu (ドラナー)). "Dragonar", as the fandom has used often, would be spelled Dorago (ドラナー). Therefore I suggest a page move to Seikoku no Dragner to stick to the English romanization. K2NR (talk) 04:18, 19 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Eco vs. Eiko

[edit]

I suppose that "Eco" is the official name for that Tsundere character, but Eiko sounds more cute(?), in my opinion. Eco is so plain. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KevyVuong (talkcontribs) 04:28, 13 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Line Edits

[edit]

I believe I have taken care of the line edits. If agreed, we can remove the tag at the top. A couple of issues to get a consensus on:

  • Should "pal" be title case or lower case? I made it consistently lower case but I can change it to title case.

75.23.245.27 (talk) 21:20, 22 September 2018 (UTC) Shouldn't it be 'par' instead of 'pal'? According to [1], it's short for "dragon partner".75.23.245.27 (talk) 21:20, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Should "student council" be title case or lower case? I made it lower case.
  • This article has a lot of introductory clauses that delay the subject. For example, "Despite his unusually large star brand that marks him as a future dragon master, his pal has never appeared." This repetitive pattern could be varied a bit. (Oh. And that's a dangling modifier. Fixing ...)
  • This sentence gave me a lot of trouble: "Avdocha decided to help Veronica so that she could find her long-lost sister, Shamara." It began as: "She decided to help her so that she could find her long-lost sister, Shamara." Pronoun antecedents needed to be clarified. Please make sure the right names are in the right places. For future reference, should I just delete the copy edit tag at the top myself? Thank you. Pursuedbybaer (talk) 15:44, 19 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the copy edit tag. Pursuedbybaer (talk) 15:38, 29 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You're right about "student council", but I'm pretty sure "pal" and "breeder" should be title case, they're special statuses like a King or Duchess, aren't they? The plot summary could also use a further copy-edit, I'll do this. QuietOwl (talk) 02:03, 30 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Caps on "pal" and "breeder" sound good, as long as we're consistent. Maybe we can try to match what the creators do in their written materials, if they're consistent. Great! Thank you. Pursuedbybaer (talk) 16:04, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I've changed the article to reflect this, as well as copy-editing it again. QuietOwl (talk) 11:01, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
