Spelling
[edit]I don't think, that Seisal is the correct spelling. Seiçal is the official spelling of the suco there (Jornal da Républica, Diploma Ministerial 199/2009). At the most accurate map I know, they write Seical. I think "Seisal" is the Tetum spelling, while "Seiçal" is Portuguese, which is general used in international usage. Maybe some people only write the name like it sound. --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 06:39, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
- More sources with "Seical": [1] [2] --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 07:03, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
- I was using the GIS dataset that is on the same site as that map and it lists both names, I went with Seisal as more common based on its listing at http://earth-info.nga.mil/gns/html/index.html which gives Seisal as official and Seiçal as a variant. I'd trust that more than media usage, but it is not authoritative - if Seiçal really is the more common English usage go ahead and switch it back. Kmusser (talk) 12:41, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
- Well, if I understand Wikipedia:Article titles#Foreign names and anglicization right, I would say, "there are too few English-language sources to constitute an established usage", so I "follow the conventions of the language appropriate to the subject".
