I've removed the 'photo required' tag from here, since I added a photo of Sennen Cove - but its not a brilliant pic. There must be better out there. --JimChampion 23:50, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Relevance and noteworthiness of the "Art" section

[edit]

Under the heading "Art" is this sentence: "The horizon at Sennen serves as the inspiration for a collection of 365 paintings entitled "Sennen: A Moment in Time" by renowned abstract artist Tony Davie."
There are a number of problems with this. First, "renowned" is a word suitable for a public relations campaign, not an encyclopedia. Second, there is no article on Tony Davie, which would beg the question of whether or not he meets WP:N. Third, citing an artist in an article about a place simply because that place inspires at least one artist is a questionable tactic. Surely the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco (to offer just one example) has inspired countless artists, but there isn't anything in the (sizeable) article on that structure about artists whom it has inspired. The Eiffel Tower, the Parthenon, the Matterhorn -- there are countless such places that frequently inspire artists and yet we don't see the articles about them being used as a pretext to talk about artists being inspired by them. Mr. Davie appears to live in Cheltenham, a considerable distance from Sennen. If there are local artists of note who might be mentioned here, that would make more sense. Otherwise I would argue for this section being removed. Bricology (talk) 11:34, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
