what was the most recent PDS severe thunderstorm watch? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.251.40.133 (talk) 06:29, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

July 21, 2006 in the Ohio Valley. They are very rare, and the numbers are skewed by days with multiple such watches in the past (long-lived derechos). CrazyC83 (talk) 03:55, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
2008 Watch #0539 is a PDS Severe Thunderstorm Watch from the Storm Prediction Center (Unted States) issued 15 June 2008 for Kansas and Missouri. You may want to include it in the article as an example with, or in place of, the current example watch. ---- W5WMW, WPZE252 (talk) 16:00, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hawaiian watches

[edit]

Apparently Hawaii issues their own watches (they've issued one now). But I can't find anything as a source that says this other than the current watch. Should the article be updated with just the watch as the source? Inks.LWC (talk) 10:55, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) only issues Severe Thunderstorm Watches for the lower 48 states. HI & AK NWS WFOs issue their own Severe Thunderstorm Watches (see Section 3.2.1.1 from below):

There was an effort a few years back to try & decentralize the Severe Thunderstorm Watches for the lower 48 states as well, but it never came to fruition. I used to work for the NWS... Guy1890 (talk) 21:15, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I just added some of the above info to the article. Guy1890 (talk) 22:09, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
