I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Sheck Wes's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 05:10, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
Vandalism
[edit]- EmvCS (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) Continual vandalism, removing sourced material. User is a self-declared agent who may be associated with the subject of this page. DustinBr (talk) 13:44, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
- @DustinBr: Read WP:NOTVAND and WP:BLP. Unsourced or inadequately sourced material may be removed from biographies at any time. This Youtube video is a primary source from one of the disputants and so not a reliable source on its own. Uproxx is a professional publication that's generally reliable. Boing Boing is described as a group blog but has an editorial staff so you need to go to WP:RSN to get a consensus as to whether they are reliable or not. Uproxx (and possibly Boing Boing) would be better sources to cite than the original Youtube video (though even then, proper in-line attribution is required because this is a BLP). See WP:PRIMARY for more info.
- @EmvCS: Re-read WP:COI, now. Removing sourced content without discussion is absolutely unacceptable given the position you're in. I could have blocked you and other admins would have said "yeah, that's fair."
- To follow through on my point, I'm removing material that has "citation needed" tags. If someone can provide a reliable source for those statements, I'll restore them as soon as I see it. For the biography bits, statements from Wes would work. For the Reddit claim, we don't use primary or self-published sources that make claims about other people, you'd need a non-primary source (like a news piece) reporting on it becoming viral. - Thanks for your input - much appreciated. DustinBr (talk) 14:29, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Ian.thomson: Just to add - there are new allegations of abuse and stalking, widely reported in MSM (e.g. The Guardian - will I need to wait until protection has lapsed before adding this to the article? Thanks. DustinBr (talk) 14:36, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
- Although I've got some errands to run today (and so cannot guarantee when I'll be on), you can place an edit request at any time while the page is protected. The Guardian is a good source but you may want to find one or two more to show that the matter is definitely notable. The main reason I protected it is so that you and EmvCS can discuss the inclusion/exclusion of the contested material at hand (the alleged lack of payment). I have only provided my assessment regarding sources to try to get discussion started and have no opinion on the matter. Ian.thomson (talk) 14:43, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
Replying here to communicate my awareness of, and sensitivity to, the above conversation. Stussll (talk) 17:50, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
For what it’s worth, I’ve included Wes’s denial per WP:BLP guidance, “If the subject has denied such allegations, that should also be reported.” Stussll (talk) 18:01, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
