Article is a stub with no significant additional information. This and its sister articles could be formatted into a list on the parent article. PureRED | talk to me | 13:52, 30 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@PureRED: Wikipedia is WP:NOTFINISHED. These stubs are partially placeholders until editors have improved them up to the standard of other cup final pages. Other similar competitions have their own per-season entries, such as the one-match FA Charity Shield, the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup (which has separate pages for each year and each final), and less well known trophies such as the Full Members' Cup (also separate final/year pages). I created these SLCS stubs because it was the only competition where we couldn't link to the individual season on the second table of the List of football clubs in England by competitive honours won page, even though it is no less important than any of the other entries. Since they meet the same notability criteria as the other competitions, I think the best move is to expand them, not merge them. Madshurtie (talk) 14:07, 30 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, got it. Sports aren't my strong suit on Wiki, and when I saw a list popup on the feed I got to work. If it's pretty common practice for each to have its own, then by all means feel free to remove the tags! Thanks for following up. PureRED | talk to me | 14:09, 30 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@PureRED: No worries. I'll leave the tags for someone else to deal with, since I created the pages. Madshurtie (talk) 14:12, 30 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That works! As folks come along to add info, they'll strike the tags. PureRED | talk to me | 14:14, 30 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Are there even any sources around that would help add to these articles? Personally, I think you were justified in adding the merge tags. – PeeJay 21:13, 30 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There are a significant number of sources in the main Sheriff of London Charity Shield article (which I have been curating for the past few years), a particular corker being this full online book on the histoy of Corinthian F.C. from 1906 [1], it has squad lists and details of every match in the Sheriff Shield bar the final edition and should be the main source for these stubs initially. There are also other contemporaneous newspaper references for some of the matches on the main article which can be used. I encourage us all to begin expanding the stubs. Good job @Madshurtie: Mountaincirque · Join the Karate Task Force? 08:34, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
We could even add those photos in that book. Since they were taken before 1957, they should be in public domain under both UK and US law. Madshurtie (talk) 09:39, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have just had a first bash at 1898 Sheriff of London Charity Shield, I need to inlcude the replay match but not enough time today, just spent an hour on that! Hopefully gives us a template basically for others, I used the 1908 FA Charity Shield for inspiration. Mountaincirque · Join the Karate Task Force? 09:41, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Great job! Thanks for putting in the time. Madshurtie (talk) 09:50, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There is no reason to have an article for every year a match was played, containing only the score. And there is also no reason to have unsourced, un-contexted "placeholders." That is not a legitimate use for Wikipedia. I support all suggested merges. ‡ Єl Cid of ᐺalencia ᐐT₳LKᐬ 13:26, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

From what I was able to gather is that Sheriff of London Charity Shield is pre-crusior to the FA Charity/Community Shield. But was staged between English FA and the English Amature FA but in 1908 for whathever reason there was spilt and English FA staged its own verision for the first time in 1908. Probably because of this spilt the English FA Choose to ignore the games from 1898 to 1908. Rightfully or wrongfully. But considering that the first game was played in 1898 was played in the spring. and when First English FA solo sheild game was played in 1908, the first game was played in the spring and that format was keept until 1920s something. Because of that I would assume that Sheriff of London Charity shield and FA Charity/Community Shield are actually one and the same compation. In similar fasion to Inter-City-Fairs Cup/UEFA cup, additionally I notice that appart form the original 1898 game no other sheriff of London Charity Shield games on its individual article has an exact date when they took place but considered the information about the 1898 game and 1908 game I would think that all game inbetween were also played in the spring.I would like to assume that some informations on dates exist somewhere out there considering that the very first match has cited date along with more information, if someone would like to look into it I would welcome it even if they contanted actual footall historians who then could write it in book that then can be cited. As for the English FA I think they should probably change their stance on these Sheriff of London games probably only for the fact that the original throphy itself is the largest throphy the football world has ever seen + what I have already said about the spring games format. Asfor English Amature FA I don't know if they created their own verision of the sheild after the split I couldn't see any mention of the fact in the main artilce could probably be added. As for Fundrising matches of the 1930s and later I would like to think that no thropies were handed out for those matches and don't need further reconzing more related to modern testimonals DoctorHver (talk) 06:47, 16 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
