Wrong coordinates and country?

[edit]

I doubt very much that the coordinates given in the article are correct, and I doubt that the lake is in Israel. According to the description, the lake is located about 18 km south of Eilat, but the border to Egypt is only about 6 km south of Eilat. Furthermore, the lake is supposed to be about 140 m long and 50 m wide. The lake marked with the coordinates currently given in the article is much smaller. There is a lagoon that matches the size aproximately, and also the distance from of Eilat, it is located at 29°25′45″N 34°49′49″E / 29.429207°N 34.830287°E / 29.429207; 34.830287, which is in Egypt. --Tetris L (talk) 16:30, 8 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tetris, as of today the article shows the lake to be in Egypt and the coordinates given are correct - they lead exactly to a green coastal lake between two headlands, about 140 m long and 65 m wide (I measured it with Google Earth's ruler tool). The coordinates you supplied lead to a small bay some 500 m northwest of the lake, but it's easy to find it from there. The initial confusion was probably because Google Maps still incorrectly shows a "Solar Lake" label located right in the garden and pool of the Eilat Princess Hotel in Israel, next to the Egyptian border. --UrsoBR (talk) 21:58, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
