Unitary Authority
[edit]There are plans afoot to vote for merging all five Somerset coucils into a Unitary Authority. Is this event notable enough for inclusion in this page? e.g. https://onesomerset.org.uk/ hrf (talk) 14:58, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
Allegations of Homophobic Bullying
[edit]Whilst the page is currently mainly on the structure of the council this recent story seems to be of enough significance to merit a bride mention at least having received significant local and national media coverage, e.g;
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2717977/Gay-Liberal-Democrat-councillor-22-claims-forced-job-homophobic-bullying.html http://www.westerngazette.co.uk/Liberal-Democrat-Somerset-county-councillor-Sam/story-22211932-detail/story.html
Any opinions on which section to include this within? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scott38 (talk • contribs) 18:41, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
" 31st 4-year term "
[edit]This has been added at the top of the info box, but it is nonsense, because in the 19th century county elections happened more often, I believe every three years, and the aldermen held office for six years. So I am just going to delete "31st 4-year term". Moonraker (talk) 20:17, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Somerset county coat of arms.png
[edit]File:Somerset county coat of arms.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a non-free use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

2022 election
[edit]For the avoidance of any confusion, the May 2022 elections replaced the 55 county councillors with 110 new councillors (two per existing seat). These new councillors will sit for nearly a year on the county council as county councillors to oversee the transition to Somerset Council in April 2023, which point they will each become Somerset Council councillors for a further four year period. For confirmation, see ref1, ref2, ref3, ref4, ref5. Hopefully that clarifies things. 10mmsocket (talk) 19:23, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
