NPOV violation?[edit]

Demiurge1000, saying the series is "extremely detailed" is not POV pushing? Jonas Vinther (talk) 18:02, 27 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Really? Then why is (was) it a completely unsourced statement of opinion, about a commercial product, no less, containing an emphatic adverb? --Demiurge1000 (talk) 20:12, 27 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Lets pretend I have a book in my hand, for the sake of the argument, let's say the cover is blue. And that book was the subject of a Wikipedia article, and I wrote "the cover is blue", is that then POV pushing? HOW in the world is it POV pushing? If anything, it's un-sourced, not POV pushing. Jonas Vinther (talk) 23:03, 27 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Correct. But if you write, unsourced, "the cover is blue, and the book has 271 pages and is extremely detailed", then you are not adhering to the Wikipedia policy WP:NPOV. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 12:01, 28 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, lets meet in the middle. How about, "each episode last generally 40-45 minutes and is very detailed". The TV channel that aired the series has a Youtube channel with all episodes uploaded; such a link will support that claim. Jonas Vinther (talk) 13:35, 28 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have added the additional sources. Jonas Vinther (talk) 13:46, 28 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Sigh. Such a link supports only a personal interpretation (i.e. WP:OR and opinion) of whoever happens to watch the youtube videos. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 14:20, 28 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Okay ... Let's end at that. Jonas Vinther (talk) 16:54, 28 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Episode list incorrect[edit]

The episode list is incorrect as there are 18 episodes not 15 (or 17). I'd corrected the page to reflect the list available from the History Channel's website (already cited on the page) but got my changes reverted. See the production company's website for further confirmation. --75.157.40.169 (talk) 04:01, 28 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You did not add any more episode sections. You should be welcome to add the remaining 2-3, but the edits you mentioned only removed already added information; your edits destroyed the Wikitable I had added, and deleted information. Jonas Vinther (talk) 13:33, 28 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
75.157.40.169, I have added the last missing episodes to the Wikitable. Jonas Vinther (talk) 13:54, 28 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion[edit]

I will begin an expansion sooner or later! Jonas Vinther (talk) 22:53, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's done ... finally. Jonas Vinther (speak to me!) 16:12, 5 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Online version description[edit]

This entire series is viewable on YouTube in what seems an authorized version. (The channel is that of Star Media and displays its logo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CerdjvePsg&list=PLwGzY25TNHPC_SsXFcIH-ba0nWuNbHOM6&index=2 .) I've been told that Wikipedia will not link to online video -- I don't understand this, but for the moment am not challenging it -- but mentioning the online version is worthwhile, IMO, for three reasons:

  • This is now the easiest way to see the series.
  • The episode order is chronological throughout, which the existing described version is not. I took the titles from Star Media's own listing.
  • The new, 18th episode ("Kursk") is listed. (I don't know if it was repackaged info or entirely new, but it's new from the prospective viewer's perspective.)

Because of the prohibition mentioned above, I haven't sourced it. But it really should be, and I don't know how to do it. Accordingly, this is an appeal for someone more experienced to rejig this addition in an appropriate way that will serve Wikipedia readers. Thank you in advance.

Finally, I think more needs to be said about this landmark production. It is mainly Russian (map titles are in Russian, and the credits make this clear), but each episode also includes credits for the English version, including narrator. It would seem that the existing listed version was broadcast in two seasons (but where and on what network?), and was it broadcast in Russia and elsewhere? Also, as it's a major visual document for this important war, I suggest referring to commentary assessing its accuracy, reception and significance.

Availability Of Series On DVD[edit]

Bold text

I am a new user of this site. I have been watching the various episodes of Soviet Storm: World War II In The East, and have been impressed with the detail as to orders of battle of both the Soviet units and the German Wehrmacht units.

Is this series available on DVD in the USA?

Any suggestions welcome, thank you.

"The Unknown War" лучше, и на английском. Насчёт "Великой войны" - я не уверена, есть ли она на DVD на русском языке, что говорить про английский. 37.194.189.130 (talk) 06:05, 21 December 2015 (UTC)Василисса[reply]
