The 1927 tornado was not the second costliest tornado on record, Lubbock was the second costliest. Southern Illinois SKYWARN (talk) 19:38, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Normalizing, or standardizing, tornado events for changes in inflation and wealth, it is the second costliest, as seen here which is from Brooks and Doswell, 2001. Evolauxia (talk) 00:23, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There is a lot of redundancy in the the city table and there are places in the city table that can fill some of the blank spaces in the county data. --Bushido Hacks (talk) 14:17, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
St. Louis MSA Consider using the image on the right as a guide for where the Metro Area should be, but include Calhoun County, maybe even Jersey and Macoupin while we're at it.--Bushido Hacks (talk) 14:30, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Why Location and County should be separate columns[edit]
Local Storm Reports (LSRs) on the National Weather Service website have two columns for the City (location) where the storm occurs and the county that city is in. It would probably make sense to make these columns separate to make adding data to the tables more in line with the LSRs. --Bushido Hacks (talk) 14:23, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Adding the Counties column also removes the need to use the words "County", "Missouri", and "Illinois", as well as the links to county pages. A preamble description denotes what counties are included in the table. The exception is in the Location column where the St. Louis area has two Troys, and two O'Fallons.--Bushido Hacks (talk) 14:39, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
A referenced note that Ozark Airlines airplane crashed July 12, 1973, during a tornado was deleted in edit by an anonymous editor who has several warnings in his talk page. I added that item to Ozark and UMSL items. Write ups on the disaster say a tornado warning was in effect and the July 12, 1973 date was on this article before I added the Ozark note. Maybe the plane didn't fly into the funnel but the turbulence associated with it was a factor.Americasroof (talk) 23:41, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
