"This is one of only two swing bridges still in operation in Nova Scotia."

[edit]

This appears to be wrong. There are at least three, perhaps four, all on Cape Breton Island.

  1. This one
  2. The Canso Canal Bridge, the combined road/railroad bridge at the Canso Canal
  3. The Grand Narrows Bridge, the railroad bridge at Barra Strait.
  4. The road bridge across the Mira River. This may now be inoperative -- although USNGA pub 145, Sailing Directions for Nova Scotia and the St. Lawrence River, calls it out, the latest Canadian chart 4375 does not show an opening bridge there.
