Later model spec

[edit]

My family bought a 1959 Standard 8 in 1966. By this stage the spec seems to have been improved considerably, to include a heater and ash trays (neither universal on UK cars of the late 1950s). I'm pretty certain it had two wipers, although not a windscreen wash. Rot to the front wings and sills finally killed it.Sjwells53 (talk) 20:47, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First UK IFS?

[edit]

Vauxhall's 10-4 featured independent front suspension a year earlier than the Standard, employing a modified Dubonnet arrangement. 2A00:23A8:882:7301:F010:7AA2:5BA:FBF (talk) 15:22, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
