Starkenburg No Longer Exists
[edit]Starkenburg Province, which was created in 1806 at the fall of the Holy Roman Empire, was (as far as I know, from the research I've done) dismantled on June 5, 1945, with the Berlin Declaration announcing the Allied Occupation of Germany. The modern country of Germany was created within a year or so of this, containing the modern state of Hesse. I'm not sure how much longer the subdivision of Erbach remained---supposedly Odenwaldkreise was formed in 1972.
I note that the maps on this page are ancient, dating to early 20th century and before.
Therefore, I was surprised to read, in the bottom section, "Today the Starkenburg Economic Development Agency..." What?! I said. Wait, Starkenburg no longer exists! How does it have an "Agency"? I then went out to Google Search and spent ten minutes trying to look up "Starkenburg Economic Development Agency", "Starkenburg Economic Development Council", or Starkenburg Economic Development anything." The top result was for a woman named Sue Starkenburg in Greater Fargo. Others were for myriad economic development organizations (but none in Starkenburg).
Was the paragraph beginning "Today..." perhaps written in 1940? Why does a page that's supposedly historic have text that says "Today..."? Mrs rockefeller (talk) 03:01, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
