First Impressions

[edit]

Alright, this is Steel Dragon's page on Wikipedia. What do you think of my work? There's some stuff to be done, like writing the lyrics of the songs for example. All help is welcome. Have fun!

I've reverted the article to the previous version which was also my last edit to the article. Whoever the IP editor was put back in a lot of changes that were negative to the article:
  1. The picture at the top shouldn't be centered and so large. Look at the pages for The Beatles, Nirvana, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, or any band really. They have a standard format since this is an encyclopedia, not a fan page. There's an introduction for the band including most times a picture of the members. It's not centered and spanning most of the top of the article.
  2. Articles should have a short introduction which explains the subject and why they are notable.
  3. Random words shouldn't be capitalized such as heavy, metal, band, and movie in the following: "...ficticious Heavy Metal Band featuring real musicians, created to appear in the Warner Bros Movie Rock Star..."
  4. When you say "John Doe - As Guitarist John Q. Public", you're being redundant. The dash stands in place of the "as". Check out the cast list of film articles on Wikipedia and you'll see what I mean. e.g. 2 Days in the Valley, Peggy Sue Got Married, etc.
  5. Movie titles are supposed to be in italics and song titles are supposed to be in double quotes per the MoS.
  6. The songs themselves don't need articles, so why link them? They don't have any large cultural impact or significance like "Stairway to Heaven" or "Let It Be".
  7. Posting the lyrics would be a copyvio. At most Wikipedia can get away with selected lines from songs but posting more than that would be an infringement. Check out the song articles mentioned previously and you'll see that the lyrics aren't copied verbatim. At most selected lines are used.
  8. "External Links" should be "External links" per format guidelines. Notice the capitalization.
So, if anyone needs me to, I'll be happy to go through the MoS and other guidelines to back up my changes but the guidelines are good for an editor to read anyway, so I'll invite everyone else to do their own research on that. Dismas|(talk) 23:43, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mind your ONW Business

[edit]

You people think you're the owners of the fucking website. You're ridiculous. Who are you? Do you work for wikipedia or what? If you don't mind about my article, don't edit it - Asshole. Mind your own business. And fuck if the words are in capital letters. I had the whole effort and work to write that article for THE FANS, not for a censor-wannabe loser like yourself. Find something better to do and leave other people's stuff alone.

Perhaps you haven't read the bottom of each and every page where it states "All text is available under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License". In other words, you don't own anything here. If you want to have a fan page, great. But it belongs somewhere else. Dismas|(talk) 15:10, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Technically speaking, if you are contributing to Wikipedia, then you do indeed work for Wikipedia. So yeah, I guess he does. And, y'know, you misspelled "OWN." So I think you got OWNED. Onslaught Six 10:06, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Covers

[edit]

I recognize a few of the songs listed, those are covers. Long Live Rock And Roll is by Rainbow, and We All Die Young is a Steelheart song. Are any of the other songs covers, and should they be noted as such (rather than simply writing 'written by')? 67.149.28.67 11:30, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

originals made for the film:

covers/adaptions

both

  • We All Die Young - by SteelHeart. The lead singer of whom sang on (a few of) Steel Dragon's tracks, so in theory it's a cover, but it's written by the guy covering it...

No Idea

  • Wasted Generation -- need help finding out about this one. Anyone?

I would like to add this information to the article, but I don't think I have enough references to back up such outlandish claims before a wikinazi comes along and deletes everything. Pod 03:08, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actors, Musicians and songs organization

[edit]

I was researching on this article now, and I've find quite hard to understand the members of the Steel Dragon band and performances in each music. Can we make it simpler? Like, the regular formation, than the actors (and who they represent), then the songs and what additional musicians played it (like, if it says nothing, it was the regular band!). What do you think?

Fair use rationale for Image:Steel Dragon Band.jpg

[edit]

Image:Steel Dragon Band.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
