Vandalism

[edit]

I've reverted bunches of vandalism from 3/24/06 to 3/25/06. I'll be keeping an eye on this piece for a while. Stop with the vandalism, guys.Chad --> Eclectek 20:06, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted to previous edit to remove additional vandalism on 5/14/07. Must be the end of the school year.

Famous?

[edit]

I don't find *Andy Warner winner of TFA state tournament.* to be a famous alum. He's probably a current student. Please post if you disagree. Chad --> Eclectek 03:42, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Art museum?

[edit]

A few days ago I modified the section about the art museum (it originally had some language about being an "official" art museum). It's not clear to me what that means -- official by whose standards? Now ContagiousTruth has added similar language back in this edit [1]. ContagiousTruth, can you please explain what it means to be "legally" classified as an art museum? Perhaps provide a source for this? I would appreciate it. Thanks. — e. ripley\talk 21:11, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am not contagious truth but an old alum, it seems there is some confusion over the school being an art museum.

THe school is recognized by the city of houston as an official art museum not a gallery. Any questions should be redirected to the curator of the museum whos contact can easily be found on the strake jesuit website. I would provide you with links if I knew were to properly direct you. The best place to cite the information is to ask the curator herself (I think it is a she now?) but rest assured the school is 100% a genuine art museum recognized by the art community and officially by houston and the state of texas. This is something the school and its benefactors hold an immense deal of pride in. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.192.205.207 (talk) 03:50, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm glad to support adding some such language if it can simply be supported or at least explained. What is it meant to be recognized or "legally classified" as an art museum by the city or state? Can you provide a link? Unfortunately, Wikipedians cannot simply contact people to ask as that would be considered original research, which is prohibited by Wikipedia's rules. All we can do is summarize and quote already-published or publicly-available sources. I'm still searching for some public source that would back up the claim that the campus is some "official" or "legal" art museum. — e. ripley\talk 19:11, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Found something to that effect on their webpage, so I'm going to add it back along with a link and a little more info. Glad to have cleared that up. — e. ripley\talk 19:15, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

1970s bankruptcy?

[edit]
  • "Strake Jesuit asks Bankruptcy".

Apparently there was a bankruptcy in the 1970s? WhisperToMe (talk) 05:21, 11 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

UIL

[edit]

It's incredibly nitpicky to remove UIL from the conference parameter because it's a "state sanctioning body" rather than an athletic conference. When talking about Texas high school athletics, UIL is commonly understood to be the equivalent of an athletic conference. There doesn't seem to be any consensus to suggest otherwise. See Thomas Jefferson High School (Dallas), Big Sandy High School (Big Sandy, Texas), Katy High School, Westlake High School (Texas), North Shore Senior High School (Texas), Rocksprings High School, Carroll Senior High School, The Woodlands High School, John Marshall High School (Leon Valley, Texas), William Howard Taft High School (San Antonio), Junction High School, Amarillo High School, Granbury High School, Abilene High School (Texas), Georgetown High School (Texas), Arlington Heights High School, and Odessa High School.  Bait30  Talk 2 me pls? 04:05, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
