Integrating into other Wikipedia articles
[edit]Great article. To make sure this gets article gets good review make sure that it is well-linked by other articles (which has already been done quite a bit) and that it has appropriate categories. If people find it then they will use it. Blue Rasberry (talk) 18:22, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the feedback, I've added more links and categories. Smcg8374 08:08, 20 December 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smcg8374 (talk • contribs)
"Verification failed" - why?
[edit]A "Verification failed" tag was added to the statement "A number of studies have found that SWB constructs are strongly associated with a range of personality traits, including those in the five factor model." I cannot see the reason for this, the title of the reference explicity mentions "personality and subjective well-being" and the body of the article is specifically about the Five Factor Model, so the tag makes no sense at all. I don't know if the editor who added this tag has even read the reference article, I find it hard to see what the problem is.--Smcg8374 (talk) 02:55, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Health section recent edit
[edit]I am a bit confused by a statement recently added to this section. "Another example that relates back to mediation (sic) and relaxation training consists of going to church. Howard Mumford Jones shows that churches are a place where people feel like they belong." How is going to church related to relaxation training and meditation? Also, the second sentence refers to feelings of belonging, which is a social factor, distinct and separate from meditation as such. It is also unclear to me why this would be added to a section discussing health as such.--Smcg8374 (talk) 06:15, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
Criticism of the concept
[edit]Are there any psychologists or other scientists who present criticism of the idea of "subjective well-being" as a measurement of personal happiness? The idea isn't exactly new, so I'd be surprised if the idea hasn't seen some level of analysis beyond "this is great, let's keep rolling with it." It would also make for a nice contribution to the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.193.63.105 (talk) 17:33, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
rename article?
[edit]this article is really about SWB, with the tripartite model now only a small part of it. Rename article? JCJC777 JCJC777 (talk) 06:32, 3 April 2018 (UTC)
- Support. @JCJC777: I agree. And Subjective well-being was moved to Tripartite model of subjective well-being by Joshua Jonathan at 08:44, 13 June 2017 without discussion. I moved it back to restore the status quo ante. This page should not be moved again before a consensus is reached. --Neo-Jay (talk) 13:49, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
Social Factors
[edit]I would like to add a section under social factors about social media. I found a study done in China which I have used to write a draft of a short paragraph, but any other studies/ additions to this topic would be greatly appreciated! ~~~ Sirshadowclone (talk) 20:00, 21 June 2023 (UTC)

Use of happiness (SWB) in economics
[edit]I plan to add a paragraph to this part of the article involving SWB in the workplace and how that can affect both employer and employee. I found an article that had a peer reviewed research experiment on SWB in the workplace, but the link only works on a University database, so I will need a source for it. Proposed Updates to Article
[edit]I intend to add information about how green spaces or other cultural ecosystems in urban environments create the social influences that increases subjective well-being, as the article already states that close social interaction raises subjective well being. I have found multiple sources that support this fact. I would also like to expand on the effects of working environments on subjective well-being, such as the effects of blue collar working environments on mental health. Blue collar and immigrant populations are already underrepresented in general, so I would like to further expand on the subjective well-being of these groups. I also plan to write about how COVID19 has effected the subjective well-being of the next generation in the United States at the most critical time of their social development. I also would like to add the fact that it has become easier to transfer money between individuals has also had a positive impact on subjective well-being, especially for low and middle income individuals. I also would like to expand on how subjective well-being changes across an individual's entire lifespan.
