Not all dogs or cats require sulcoplasty. Depending on many factors there are a number of procedures that are used, not all involve surgery. Some surgical procedures are done in isolation, many use more than one depending on the grade of patellar luxation and other factors. Depending on the case, usually for a higher grade, sulcoplasty is recommended, which means the deepening of the groove of the femur.
