South African laws not applicable

[edit]

It is not correct to say that Sun City "was allowed under the South African law at the time to provide entertainment such as gambling and topless revue shows". As the resort was not in South Africa, but in Bophuthatswana, it was governed by the laws of Bophuthatswana, not South Africa. South African gambling laws simply did not apply, they did not allow these things.Royalcourtier (talk) 01:30, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Cultural boycott

[edit]

A lot has been written about the cultural boycott of South Africa, which these celebrities apparently flouted. The only problem is that there never was a full cultural boycott. UN Resolution 2896 provided only (section 12), that all states and organisations are requested to "suspend cultural, education, sporting and other exchanges with the racist regime and with organisations or institutions in South Africa with practice apartheid". Individuals visiting on tour are not 'cultural exchanges by states and organisations'. I suggest that the section be corrected.Royalcourtier (talk) 01:53, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Restoring lede after it was changed to ad-spam

[edit]

In this 23 Dec edit and two subsequent edits, User:Raees_mayet added and corrected multiple pieces of information that all seem legitimate and useful—but, at the same time, replaced the lede with an ad blurb for the resort:

Sun City, Rustenburg South Africa
History was made in 1979 when Sun City was opened in Rustenburg City of North West province to become the best holiday resort in South Africa, and for good reason.
Home to the Valley of Waves and sprawled along the border of the Pilanesberg National Park, Sun City Resort enjoys the fine distinction of being the only surf-and-safari destination within a two-hour drive of landlocked Johannesburg and Rustenburg City. Whether you’re looking for a romantic stay with your partner, a fun weekend getaway with friends or a Rustenburg holiday with the whole family, Sun City Resort has it all.

This is obviously not encyclopedic content. But, again, the rest of his changes in the same edit look good at a quick glance. So, rather than roll it back, I manually restored the lede to the previous version. --157.131.170.189 (talk) 07:33, 25 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
