Regarding the name change of "Negerpynten" as of May 2023.[edit]

The Norwegian Polar Institute decided to change the name of this location to "Svarthuken" because of recent controversies. I am somewhat of a novice when it comes to editing articles, so if anyone would be interested in assisting or changing it themselves I'd be very happy.

I have edited and moved the article, but does the Norwegian decided change of name apply in the English language? Hubba (talk) 13:06, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Hubba: it depends. If there is a distinct WP:COMMONNAME we'd stay with that, but I'm inclined to doubt that's the case here so the official name will probably best meet the WP:CRITERIA. You can always do a source review to confirm, but for obscure geographic features people will most likely search for the name they see on current maps. A redirect exists, so people searching using the old name can still find their war here, and if someone disagrees with the move the page can always be moved back so it's not a big deal. 184.152.68.190 (talk) 15:29, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
