Disambiguation needed?

[edit]

There is also an entry for a game called Project Sylpheed. Might need a disambiguation page for these.

But is it an NNTP program?

[edit]

Checking the homepage, it doesn't look to handle NNTP. I could have easily missed something, but has this page been listed in a wrong category? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.139.84.186 (talk) 09:45, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently not.

[edit]

The only reference to NNTP is in the Home Page, saying, 'It also supports NNTP'. But the home page describes Sylpheed as an "email client".

I have downloaded and installed Sylpheed 3.0.3, and it offers POP3 email, IMAP4 email, POP3 GMail, IMAP4 GMail. There is no way I could find of configuring a news server, and the SMTP/Email setup is mandatory.

Accordingly, I am removing the 'news' feature from the Wiki page. Whoever proves me wrong please contact me, I had great hopes of using Sylpheed as news client myself.

I use Sylpheed 3.0.3 to browse the Usenet and it works perfectly. To use NNTP you have to manually add an account via "Edit accounts" dialog and select the protocol from a drop down list. The account creation wizard doesn't list the protocol so it's a bit confusing. I'll be reverting the info about news capabilities for now. Ayayayaya~ Shameimaru! Modify Edit Message

[edit]

Hi, I added that puppy linux uses Sylpheed as the default mail client too. But in my edit message, I accidently mentioned claws instead. Can the edit message be modified by some mod?

Here's the affected revision: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sylpheed&oldid=657159931 -- 117.200.50.165 (talk) 09:22, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've never heard of it being done, but you could just follow it with a trivial edit and a better edit summary. Rwxrwxrwx (talk) 10:48, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
