There are a lot of incorrect facts on this page, like, Operator code for Reliance Communications is "3" and not "6" The opening statement saying that "most of the fixed lines are operated by BSNL" is not appropriate. Because it is a judgement and not a fact.

Also fixed line phones (wired or wireless) from Tata Indicom is NOT the same as Bharati Airtel as mentioned. Tata Indicom fixed phones start with 6.

As announced by tyhe Telecom Minister today, number mobility will be introduced soon in the four metros. Keeping this in mind, the number system may change drastically —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.189.252.99 (talk) 14:23, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Have removed the disputed material and made the article more concise. All the objections raised above are either no longer in the article or have been corrected. Hence the "Disputed" mark has been removed. Number portability is not in place in India as yet - it does not make sense to not give correct & relevant information only because it may become incorrect in the future. shown map of India is wrong.J&K (State of India) is a part of India. And india's map you can see on other sites/. please correct it.

 Not done: Jammu and Kashmir (state) is claimed but not controlled by India. Please see question 6 on the FAQ of the talk page of India. Regardless, territorial disputes like these aren't ever something that can be handled through a simple edit request, it would require discussion and resulting consensus for the change to be adopted. Add the following section on the top:

== Emergency numbers==
and then insert the India-specific list of numbers from List_of_emergency_telephone_numbers#Asia

 Not done This article is quite specifically for India. Those links only provide a brief overview and don't benefit the reader. SHB2000 (talk) 10:39, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
