I changed the country code to +972, the Israeli code, because all the prefixes given below are part of the Israeli telecommunication system, and can be reached only by using the +972 code. Dialing +970 would be futile. DrorK (talk) 22:03, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Revert - +972 is the prefix to be used from any country, if the phone number belongs to the Israeli system, which is the case for the overwhelming majority of phone numbers in the Palestinian Territories. I have never tried to dial 100, i.e. to the police, from a the Palestinian Territories. I suppose it connects you to the Israeli police, which is of little help if you live in Ramallah, Nablus, Gaza or other major Palestinian cities. It might be useful (though I doubt it) only if you live in an IDF controlled area. DrorK (talk) 12:38, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If one come across this webpage [1], for example, he could wonder how come an Israeli doctor has a Palestinian phone number. This is why the remark about 056 and 059 being previously used by Israeli company is relevant. 056 was also the prefix of paid phone services in Israel back in the early 1990ies, and 059 used to be the prefix of the Israeli city of Eilat. True, that was long time ago, but it still might be of some relevance to people who try to figure out numbers within the "+972 zone". DrorK (talk) 12:21, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
