Receiving TVRO programming

[edit]

To receive TVRO programming, you will need:

Solid aluminum dishes

[edit]

Solid spun aluminum was another big dish material. Much lighter than steel and one piece so the shape could be more accurate than multi piece dishes. Having a solid metal reflector makes a spun aluminum dish ideal for 4DTV, or for having the paint removed and the surface polished to make a solar concentrator. I decided this other article needed more detail about each type of service. But I'm not sure the big ugly dish qualifies as one of those. Still, the history of satellite TV wouldn't look right if it didn't have big ugly dishes included. I feel like any solution that just covered actual MVPDs would look like the official Communist version of the history of China.

At the same time, any information I did add could be incorporated into this article, though it wouldn't be an easy fit.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 19:01, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Another user has done some copy-editing and rearranging which prevents me from conveniently moving what I did to here. In effect, this person has declared big dishes to be an acceptable topic in the MVPD article. Once it's done, it'll all be there.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 20:37, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I figured out how to do it. It's done. I feel better now. If someone comes along and says a TYRO is an MVPD even when you pay for the dish but the programming is free (other than descrambler fees), we can reverse it.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 14:57, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
