Merging
[edit]- Change - I would not merge the Terma (Buddhism) page into Tertön, I would instead merge Terton into Terma - as the Terma page seems the most quintessential concept not the finder of Terma. - Owlmonkey (talk) 23:36, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- comment - any further comments? if there are none I'm going to go ahead with my counter proposal soon. - Owlmonkey (talk) 18:22, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- No need to merge these two articles. This article is about a group of Tibetan religious masters. The other about a type of revelation. Chris Fynn (talk) 20:27, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

Merging Eight Lingpas with this article
[edit]I propose merging Eight Lingpas article with this article (Tertön) as it is simply a list of eight Tertöns. There are several similar such numeric lists of Tertöns in the Tibetan tradition. I can see no reason why Eight Lingpas needs a separate article. It could easily be included in the Prominent tertöns sub-section of this article immediately following part about the five tertön kings. Chris Fynn (talk) 20:27, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
Female tertöns
[edit]I'd like to see this article have a more balanced tone and include female tertöns. As it stands, the material is understandably biased, given that there has not been much information on female tertöns and their activities until recently. I propose to update the article to do this. Any thoughts, suggestions, concerns? Thanks. AD64 (talk) 18:46, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
- Yeshe Tsogyal, Guru Rinpoche's primary consort was hiding termas with Guru Rinpoche, who had many prominent female disciples. I imagine some of the 25 disciples to be reborn as Tertons were women. Worth looking into!Badabara (talk) 04:33, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

Duplications and other redundancies
[edit]The article appears to duplicate wikilinks e.g. Pema Lingpa, and also have other redundancies, perhaps stemming form the fairly recent merging of the Eight Lingpas article. The article also seems to name at least one tertön in two different ways, e.g. "Guru Chowang (1212–1270)" and "Guru Chökyi Wangchuk (1212–1270)" are likely to be the same person (unless there's a remarkable coincidence in their birth and death years).
We need an editor with more than passing familiarity with the subject matter to clean these discrepancies up. (Not me.) yoyo (talk) 14:50, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
