Nostromo?[edit]

The character Jack Croker seems an interesting reflection (a simplified and purified one) of Giovanni Battista Fidanza, the eponymous Nostromo of Joseph Conrad’s novel, also of 1904. I don’t know which appeared first.

Has anyone commented on this? Was the character just one familiar in maritime stories of the era? Rt3368 (talk) 21:41, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The game is afoot.[edit]

There's no mention in this article nor does a google search reveal that the source of the Holmes quote of the Shakespeare quote, "The game is afoot" comes from this Holmes story. Wikiuser847843636 (talk) 20:50, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
