Apollo-Green's Playhouse Merger Proposal

[edit]

Would it not make sense for the main elements of the Apollo article to appear as a sub-section on the Green's Playhouse article, given that it was the same building and to some extent fulfilled a similar purpose? I've added a merger proposal to it on that basis194.32.182.3 (talk) 13:31, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. The Glasgow Apollo, regardless of its original name, was first and foremost a music venue and distinct in the memory of not only Glasgwegians but also bands and musicians. There were many live recordings there (Gary Moore in the mid 1980s, Paul McCartney released a live version of "Coming Up" from there)and I think it survives as a separate cultural entity in its own right. More than just concerts

[edit]

In early 1974 the Apollo was the first venue for Harold Wilson's successful election campaign. The supporting act was no less than Billy Connolly. 114.198.47.15 (talk) 03:02, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
