Scope
[edit]I'd like to start a discussion on the scope of this article. As it's currently written, it's about the satirical online newspaper, and (in a separate paragraph) the party. I guess there are three options what we could do:
- Leave as is.
- Split the article, so that we have separate articles on the website/newspaper and the party.
- Rewrite it so that it's about the party, with the online newspaper as part of the history (i.e. the thing that led to the founding of the party).
If we do the third, we would probably want to rename the article. What do you think? Schwede66 06:26, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
- I think both the website and the party are noteworthy in their own right, so I'd support a split.--IdiotSavant (talk) 07:08, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
- I support splitting the article into two, especially since the party is likely to get a significant amount of coverage in the election campaign, whereas the news site is relatively dormant. - Ballofstring (talk) 09:30, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
- Re IdiotSavant's comment, I also consider both topics as meeting WP:Notability. But I could quite happily live with option 3 if that was preferred by the community. Schwede66 10:17, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
- I support option 3; they are both notable, but quite separate. However, I suspect that news coverage about the party will be relatively scant - there are enough 'protest' vote parties in play already. Ridcully Jack (talk) 07:35, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for everybody's input. I've dealt with the split. I've named the new page The Civilian Party as per its formally registered name. Schwede66 15:01, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
