Year of first publication

[edit]

The novel was first published in 1989 in the UK. Why is it tagged to novels in 1990?

I changed it, seeing how setting the year correctly also put the novel in the list for 1989.

Heresies in 12th century

[edit]

This needs a section to discuss the heresies specifically, why the charge against Elave was given any weight by the canon, and the various heresies mentioned. From my research on the heresies (fantastic list of them in wikipedia!) all are historically accurate, as is the greater activity outside England. Not sure I am the best person to write that section, but I might try so someone else does it better. The Plot summary focusses on the murder and the motive for the murder, where the two examinations on statements charged as heresy were mentioned only in passing, but fairly major in the book. If Elave had been found a heretic, there would have been no happy ending for him.

Improvements

[edit]

The plot summary and characters sections should be shorter. The Reviews section can also be trimmed; we don't need the long quotes an a summary would suffice. The Settings in history section needs more specific sourcing. --John (talk) 09:13, 4 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

My plan was to keep the whole quotes in Reviews until the other reviews can be accessed using Proquest. Then the article can use parts of reviews for a more complete view of the novel. Okay? I am not sure your criteria for characters. Those with speaking parts and a major part in the plot are listed. Is the list too long, or the descriptions too long, from a book with a lot of characters?Prairieplant (talk) 15:19, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
