Jodimars Band members[edit]

Original line-up from 1953 until the last DECCA Session in September 1954:

  • Joey-----> "Jo" D'Ambrosia/Ambrose aka Joseph D'Ambrosio - Tenor saxophone
  • Dick------> "Di" Boccelli aka Dick Richards - vocals (ex-drummer) (physical education professor) [real Christian name is Richard]. Thanks, Marshall. :-)
  • Marshall-> "Mars" Lytle alias Tommy Page, double bass

From onwards 1955 the following members joined the band:

  • Jim Buffington - drums
  • Bob Simpson "to tinkle/tickle the ivories" - piano
  • Charles "Chuck" Hess - session guitarist on request

  • Buffington and Simpson were exclusively Jodimars. Max Daffner (drums - not listed here) was also a Jodimars player and later worked with The Comets in 2001. Chuck Hess was never a member of The Comets but did perform with Haley's band (Saddlemen) at one point and also recorded with members of The Comets as "session musicians"!!. Glad to see you have access to Hugh's information as well. Of course Lytle, Ambrose and Richards were most certainly Comets - Marshall and Joey played on "Rock Around the Clock". 23skidoo 00:19, 2 February 2006 (UTC) [quite sure, anyway][reply]
  • Max Daffner: then drummer back in 1958? So, there were 2 drummers in 1958, the other quitting the combo?. The rest is almost quite correct  :-)
  • Can you tell me when Daffner joined The Jodimars? S. Koenig (1 p.m./GMT+1)
The Jodimars had two drummers, although Dick Richards sang more often than he drummed. Daffner joined the group in 1955 and left in 1958. Buffington was only with the Jodimars for their first recording session in 1955. 23skidoo 13:09, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Think "laser disc" is a wrong Americanism/anglicism used wrongly somewhere in Europe [in fact, in France!] (but in Belgium, we always talked about "compact discs" [however, the latters were only the readers/CD players]). The scan you have posted is useless because it has your name on it. Re-scan the label, make sure it has the "Albumcover" license (which is the one to use for these things), don't plaster your name on it and we can add it to the article. I have no objection to adding a label shot (though are you sure this is a French label? Looks like the original US label to me). 23skidoo 16:33, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In 1963, the Beatles recorded a version of the Jodimars' "Clarabella"[edit]

Reproduced quite to the identical annotations from the booklet of the double CD Live at the BBC, released 30/12/1994)[MONO 7243 8 31796 2 6]: "Clarabella" (Previously "unrelesed" song [Frank] (Pingatore)---> "In the Beatles' set list since 1960, this obscure favourite of Paul's was originally recorded in 1956 by The Jodimars - refugees from Bill Haley's Comets.
