Original research

[edit]

EliteEN1 (talk · contribs) has recently added a swath of plot and character analysis that can only be called original research. Referencing such analysis to the book itself is pointless, as surely the author does not analyze her characters in the book. Conclusions about the nature of character relationships, and even whether characters are major or minor, is a synthesis of new material based on the source, and as such, cannot be allowed.

Such plot and character analysis can only be allowed if supported by secondary sources -- i.e. someone else's published review of the book. The plot synopsis itself can be allowed to remain, and does not need referencing -- any reader can read the book and verify the details of the plot synopsis, so long as the synopsis does not stray into the field of analysis. --WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:07, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
